The mountain in Lebanon has been used by Christian refugees since the early days of Christianity. This presence has been uninterrumpted, alabeit sometimes disrupted, for 20 centuries.
The village of Deir El Kamar is the birthplace of Prince Fakhreddine, in the 16th century, a druze who fought valiantly and kept lebanon free under the Ottoman empire timeframe. Over the last three centuries, the village has been a Christian stronghold in the mountain. Camille Chamoun, President of the Lebanese Republic 1952-1958, was born and lived in Deir el Kamar.
On the hills of Deir El Kamar, there are a multitude of monuments dedicated to Christianity. This one overlooks a fertile green valley, planted with apple trees and vineyards.
