Louisville is a small town in Boulder County, located between Boulder and Denver on I-36. December 2005 saw record low temperature for this area, reaching -10 degrees Fahrenheit.
That day, I decided to drive home at noon to fix our fence, which suffered from a sustained 60 miles per hour wind few days earlier. It started snowing, and the cold was unbearable for any outdoor work. Driving back to work, I saw this familiar landscape freezing under extreme temperature, with the low clouds snowing gently.
These oak trees are majestic in their stature, surprising by their shapes, mostly visible in winter.
