A pond, in Paihia, northern part of New Zealand. And a tree. Except that these trees are different. The vegetation in New Zealand is simply different to what we see in our western Hemisphere.
As I hiked in New Zealand, I could not stop thinking about the resemblance between the vegetation there, and the Asian, mostly Chinese ones. Resemblant, but very different. The shape of the tree pictured here is a good example of this resemblance.
By reverting to a black and white representation, I wanted the focus to be on the shape of the branches, and the ripples on the water. The green color would have been a distraction.
