Twilight colors at the Harbour, Sydney, Australia

The controversial architecture of the Sydney Opera House became, with time, the jewel of the Sydney harbour, and the symbol of Australia. The Olympic games of 2000 introduced Sydney and its characteristic skyline to the world.

The Sydney Opera House sits midway between the Botanic garden and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. From the northern point of the Botanic garden, called "Mrs. Macquarie's Point", we can line up the Opera House on the side of the Harbour Bridge, making look as though they are connected. There is an ancient boat ramp at Mrs. Macquarie's Point: I was standing in the warm waters of the bay in this night in November, waiting for the moment.

This photo is a stitching of 6 vertical photos, each exposed for about 10 seconds. As I was rotating the camera to the right incrementally, every 10 seconds, the light was changing very fast, making the rigtt half of the picture darker than the left half. Compounded by the fact that the sun was setting behind the buildings on the left, the photo has this gradual sky groing from a sunset sky on the left to a night sky on the right.

Technique: Canon EOS 1dmk2, Canon 24-70 f/2.8 at 32mm, ISO 320, 10s at f/8, 6 vertical photos stitched
