Sand Dunes, Death Valley.
Every night, the wind erases any footsteps left during the day, and creates shapes and patterns in the dunes. To better visualize these patterns and shapes, one has to be there at sunrise or sunset, otherwise the dunes look rather flat and uninteresting.
To focus the eye of the observer on the shapes, the black and white rendition remove distracting colors, and reduce the photograph to its bare essentials. The diagonal accentuates the size of the dune, while the S-shape at the top gives it subtle elegance, to suit the lace-shaped borderline.
